Meet Christina Parkinson, Team Leader, Advocate, and Heartfelt Carer

Christina Parkinson is a dedicated and compassionate Team Leader at Community Carers NSW, bringing nearly nine years of experience in disability and aged care to her role. With her unique combination of hands-on expertise and genuine care, Christina ensures every participant receives the highest standard of support, helping them lead lives of dignity and comfort.

In her previous role, Christina managed a participant requiring 24/7 care, overseeing all aspects of their well-being. From organising medication, appointments, and shopping to liaising with family members and mentoring her team of carers, Christina’s leadership ensured that both the participant and their family felt supported. A Lifelong Passion for Caring

Christina’s journey into the care industry was inspired by a lifetime of selflessly helping others. As a young adult, she cared for a close friend battling a brain tumour, later supporting others through illnesses such as heart failure and Parkinson’s disease. These experiences taught Christina the value of empathy, resilience, and the transformative power of genuine care.

Christina’s life experiences and natural aptitude for caregiving quickly earned her a place in the industry. Her proactive approach, organisational skills, and knack for problem-solving allow her to navigate even the most challenging situations with grace and effectiveness.

Making a Difference, One Life at a Time

One of Christina’s most memorable moments highlights her unwavering commitment to improving lives. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked with a participant struggling with severe alcoholism and living in extreme conditions. Through patience, compassion, and practical assistance, Christina helped her regain dignity by cleaning her home, organising her belongings, and even encouraging her to shower after years of avoidance. While the work was emotionally challenging, Christina cherishes the memory of seeing the participant express gratitude and relief at finally feeling cared for.

Christina’s Values in Action

Christina lives by principles of honesty, respect, and positivity. She believes caregiving is a privilege, one that requires empathy, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from every experience. For Christina, the role isn’t just about meeting physical needs—it’s about creating a supportive environment where participants and their families feel valued and understood.

She also treasures her time at the family caravan, where she connects with lifelong friends and unwinds in a peaceful setting.
