We meet people as people. Every decision, matching, rostering, communication, protects what matters most: their independence, their identity, and their everyday normal.
Life over liability
We refuse to shrink someone's world just because the system is scared. Safety is non-negotiable, but so is living. We advocate hard, so clients don't fade quietly behind closed doors.
The right people, every time
We don't fill shifts. We protect homes, routines, and trust with the right match, proper training, and standards that never slip to "good enough."
Presence, not performance
Not rushed, not scripted, not tick and go. We follow through on what we say and stay close when things feel hard. We measure care by how safe, seen, and steady someone feels in their own home.
Community Carers NSW was born from a refusal to accept what "care" had started to mean.
Too much of the industry became paperwork first, people second. Too many clients were spoken about like a problem to manage, a risk to contain, a profile to roster. Annette built Community Carers because she saw the cost of that way of operating. The quiet shrinking of someone's world. The exhaustion in families expected to hand their loved one over and hope for the best. The heartbreak of "support" that didn't feel supportive at all.

We exist to bring care back to what it is meant to be: human, steady, and deeply respectful. We meet clients as whole people, with routines, humour, preferences, pride, and a life that still deserves to feel like theirs. We hold dignity as a daily practice, not a slogan, and we protect what matters most: identity, independence, and everyday normal.

At our core, we are a community company. Not a faceless provider, not a rotating roster, not a service that arrives and disappears. Families are kept in the circle, clients are known by name, and carers show up with presence, not performance. We do not shrink lives because the system is scared. We expand life with wisdom, safety, and courage, because safety matters and so does living.
Community Carers NSW is led by founder Annette Hanneman, who began as a support worker in 1992 and built over three decades of experience across the disability sector. Her standard was formed at home, walking alongside her father through a stroke, an Acquired Brain Injury, and later dementia: care must be real.

She leads with warmth and backbone, and the whole team carries the same core value. Show up with respect, awareness, and presence, or don't show up at all.
