Meet Dana Freeman,
Community Relations Coordinator

As the Community Relations Coordinator at Community Carers NSW, Dana’s role is to build strong connections with clients, families, and key stakeholders including community organisations. She takes pride in fostering relationships that enhance the lives of our clients and create meaningful partnerships to promote our services.

Dana actively represents Community Carers NSW at events, expos, and community activities, showcasing the incredible work we do and increasing awareness of our brand. Developing partnerships that drive support service growth is a key part of her role, and she enjoys creating opportunities to connect with the community.

​

Dana has a core focus on effective communication, developing marketing materials, newsletters, and social media content that aligns with Community Carers NSW mission and values, helping to reach and engage more people.

Collecting and responding to feedback is important to Dana, as it ensures we continually improve the support we provide. “By tracking community engagement activities and outcomes, I’m able to contribute to strategies that strengthen our impact.”

Experience and Skills

With nearly six years in the disability sector, Dana has worked in Supported Independent Living (SIL) as a support worker and key worker, and as an employment support worker, helping participants transition into open employment. Her experience focuses on supporting clients with complex needs, including psychosocial support.

​Career Journey and Inspiration

Dana was a primary school teacher prior to transitioning to disability support. A transformative experience working with a student with Asperger’s Syndrome inspired her to focus on meeting the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. Dana’s teaching background enhances her ability to offer personalised, compassionate care.

“Empathy, compassion, and empowerment are at the heart of my work. I believe in treating everyone with respect and kindness, creating environments where clients feel heard and valued. I am driven by the belief that building supportive relationships helps individuals overcome obstacles and reach their potential.”​​

Fun Fact About Dana

Outside of her role at Community Carers NSW, Dana is a holistic healer offering services like Breathwork, Energy Healing, and Sound Healing. She brings light-heartedness and humour into her work and believes they are powerful tools for connection and comfort.

Outside of Work

Dana enjoys spending time with her three teenage boys and is passionate about holistic healing, meditation, breathwork, and nature walks. She also loves playing piano, listening to music, and reading. These activities help her stay grounded and balanced in both personal life and work.
